Therese Allison is an associate in the firm where she focuses her practice in the areas of Commercial Real Estate Acquisitions, Leasing, Commercial Transactions and Corporate Law.

Prior to joining Astor Weiss Kaplan & Mandel, Ms. Allison was general counsel to a brokerage and development company based in New Jersey where she provided legal counsel on corporate matters and real estate transactions.  Ms. Allison also practiced at a Philadelphia law firm where she advised clients on commercial leasing and acquisitions, corporate matters and business transactions and where she practiced litigation in areas including mortgage foreclosures, real estate and title disputes and torts to land.

Barbara Oaks Silver is a partner in the firm, with her practice focused on the areas of Family Law and Estate and Financial Planning. Before joining the Firm in 1991, Ms. Silver worked as a partner with her husband, Edward W. Silver, in their own Philadelphia Law Firm.

In 1999, Ms. Silver was one of the 154 attorneys chosen by her peers as a Best Lawyer in Philadelphia Magazine. She was also named as one of the Top 50 women lawyers in Pennsylvania. In 2004, 2005 and 2006, Ms. Silver was also named a Super Lawyer by her colleagues.

Background

Judy sits as an arbitrator with the Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas compulsory arbitration program. She is a former Adjunct Professor at the James E. Beasley School of Law of Temple University, where she taught a course on legal writing to international attorneys. In law school at Villanova, Judy participated in the International Law Society, the Jessup International Moot Court Team, and the Women’s Law Caucus. She was also a Research Assistant to Professor Ruth Gordon, as well as a legal writing teaching assistant to Diane Edelman.

She has discussed the legal rights of grandparents on the radio program “The Morning Zone”,  broadcast from Cheyenne to Denver. In 2008, she was named among the “Lawyers on the Fast Track” by the Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly. As such, Judy is one of only 35 Pennsylvania attorneys under the age of 40 selected as a future leader of the Commonwealth’s legal community and having made a significant commitment to the community-at-large. Judy is a former trustee for Elam United Methodist Church in Glen Mills, PA.
